What the City of Boise allows
Boise updated its development code to treat a certified tiny home on wheels as a legitimate accessory dwelling option, not simply a recreational vehicle parked on a lot. A qualifying unit can be sited behind a single-family home under the standards below.
- Unit is NOAH+ certified, or meets another city-approved standard, with certification on file before occupancy
- Sited behind the front plane of the primary residence, at least six feet from other structures
- Connected to central water and the municipal sewer system through the primary residence's connection
- Not used as a short-term rental
- Skirted around the wheels, tongue and jack, with siding that complements the primary home
- Not sited in the Special Flood Hazard Area
