The short answer

Your tiny home's documents continue to matter after delivery. A well-organized file can help you answer equipment questions, explain the home to an insurer, plan maintenance, and provide information if you later sell it.

Save the purchase record

Keep the approved specification, signed agreement, invoices, option list, payment records, and delivery paperwork together. Include the identification, title, or registration documents that apply to the home. Retain available certification and inspection records with the related model information.

These documents establish what was purchased and provide a starting point when you need to describe the home accurately.

Create an equipment and maintenance file

Save appliance and HVAC model numbers, serial numbers, manuals, warranties, and service contacts. Record maintenance dates and keep service invoices. Photographs of labels can be helpful when a technician asks for a number that is difficult to reach later.

Keep installation and utility records too. Ask the relevant professionals which inspection reports and connection details should remain with the home.

Document changes as they happen

When work is performed after delivery, save the scope, approvals where applicable, invoices, and photographs. Ask whether the change needs review by the local authority, insurer, or certification provider. Updating the file as work occurs is easier than reconstructing it years later.

Store a backed-up digital copy as well as any original documents that need to be retained. Limit access to records containing personal or financial information.

As you purchase from Snake River Tiny Homes, ask which documents will be provided and what to request from your site contractors. The goal is a file you can use, not a pile of paperwork. Confidence in ownership grows when the information behind your home stays within reach.
