The short answer

Skirting can improve appearance and reduce exposure beneath the home. Whether it is required, and when, depends on local rules and climate. Your home comes fully equipped with its standard living essentials. Delivery, permits, utility connections, site preparation and installation are separate. Required safe supports, anchoring, access and approvals must be completed when applicable; optional exterior improvements can often wait.

What should I know?

The finished gap to the ground varies with blocks, slope and leveling. Our manufacturer does not include skirting because it must be measured after placement and installed by a local contractor. A local installer may recommend 2-inch rigid foam board behind skirting, with appropriate moisture and ventilation planning. Include a service access door. Skirting alone does not guarantee freeze protection.

What can wait until later?
